Boom Boom Room in my opinion is the BEST club in Windsor for checking out world-class dj's and gettin your dance on....I must say that they've gone and outdone themselves again because July 1st (wed), BBR will throw the sickest of all parties with RICHIE HAWTIN, DUBFIRE, AMBIVALENT and BAREM!!! This is going to be a night you do NOT want to miss....
Richie Hawtin is an amazingly talented man who was born in England but grew up LaSalle ON (Windsor). He was influenced by the Detroit techno scene and went to become a mad-scientist type of dj that created all his own sounds, editing equipment, successful as well as independent record lables, not to mention a global fan-base. It's easy to see why an o'le club-kid like me would be pumped to see someone so intune with music and so influential return to Windsor and throw a good party!
My first memories of Richie was trying to get into the cool bar he ran called "13 Below" in Windsor ON. Back then I was about 18 and had an old passport from El Salvador that said I was married and 5 foot 2 lol. I only made it inside once but it was a definite extention of Mr. Hawtin. The ceilings were really low and the mood was really chilled out in a stylish yet intelligent way. Richie has a signature way of making every venue he plays at take on a unique vibe that no other dj can replicate.
Back in 1999 I was invited by two of my close friends over to Motor-Lounge in detroit to help (or at least watch) the set up of the amazing party to be taking place the next night. My friend knew Richie and helped him do some of the construction which included dropping the ceilings and hanging big white screens around the club to give the party a labyrinth-like vibe!!! I got to watch the whole set-up and attend the Y2K NYE party the following day.....that was my one experience lol but I'd never forget how amazing it was. The music and atmosphere of that party came second to none..... so I know this party will probably go down in history!
You absolutely cannot miss this event. To see Ritchie perform along with the other stellar Dj's is definitely worth coming to Boom Boom Room in Windsor on Wednesday July 1st to celebrate Canada Day Good n' Propa!!!
