GET YO FRINGE ON!!!!
Hello fellow readers!!!! I hope everyone had a great weekend (mine was very tame because I had to recover from Richie on Wednesday). Today I've decided to blog about the International Windsor Fringe Festival because a week from now our downtown streets be over-run with artists from all over the world performing various activities on street corners and in selected venues such as Boom Boom Room and I want everybody to go and give them support!
The Fringe festival is a ten day, all-ages event running July 17th through July 27th which is a GREAT time to be downtown because there will be 5 other sub-festivals going on at the same time!!! The Windsor International Fringe Festival is a combined 5-in-festival incorporating The Windsor Theatre Fringe, The Windsor Visual Fringe, The Chalk & Chocolate Festival, Buskin to the Beat and The Windsor International Buskers Festival.

This festival (which began in the 80's), is a radical departure from the usual clubbing, dining, gambling and strip-club hopping you might have had planned to do downtown already! (I know I did) But it is TOTALLY worth checking out and bring your camera cuz there will be plenty of fun to capture lol. This festival is "un-juried" meaning that the artist's aren't judged and get to participate on a first-come-first-serve basis which is cool because new budding artists get to come out and work their talents!

The participating artists hail from Australia, Israel, Netherlands, U.S, Ontario (including Windsor), Montreal and Vancouver and range in talent from theatre performers, musicians, visual-artists and even chalk-artists so there is something for everybody to enjoy...... cuz I know yours truly enjoys a good chalk drawing on a hot pavement in the summer while while watching trampoline artists fly through the air while a man in a sequined bikini plays an accordian......Im so serious.

Description
This is pure entertainment............... Armed with a vintage keyboard, a $5 garage-sale accordion and other dubious implements, award-winning laugh-meister Glen Callender UFA purveys an unpredictable mélange of music and mayhem—so unpredictable, in fact, that the only thing we can say for sure is that the show will be 60 minutes long. Don’t miss the unique comedy experience The Province declared a “Pick of the Fringe” and The Georgia Straight called “A very funny show!”

The Chalk and Chocolate Festival show is a unique idea that showcases extrodinary chalk-on-the-street art-work coupled with tons of chocolate to be tasted...try some ganache cupcakes or jalapeno-chocolate ice-cream! On Sunday, July 20, the same corner will be lively again as the home to Buskin’ to the Beat, a world music and dance event.

All outdoor events are Free. Theatre Fringe Tickets $9.00 with a one-time $5.00 Fringe Button purchase. Buttons & Advance Tickets are available at the Chrysler Theatre Box Office as of June 15, 2009 or/will be able to be purchased online from www.windsorfringe.com
