MOVEMENT 2009: DETROIT ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL THIS SATURDAY BEGINNING

The Mayor of Detroit along with festival producers PAXAHAU announced the reintroduction of the DETROIT ELECTRONIC MUSIC FESTIVAL’s original brand MOVEMENT, developed by electronic music artist DERICK MAY for the 03 and 04 festivals. 

The movement begins Saturday May 23, 2009! Electronic music fans will storm Detroit’s Hart Plaza beginning at 12 pm with the party going till Monday May 25.  Experience 26 hours of music, 4 stages and more than 70 artists and DJ’s.  The opening party for MOVEMENT 2009 will kick off with a live performance by PRODIGY on Friday May 22 at The Fillmore.  Joining Prodigy for the movement kick-off party will be Paxahau Resident DJ Chuck Flask and Evan Evolution at the State Bar.

Stage headliners for MOVEMENT 09 include Marco Carola, Guy Gerber and Benny Benassi on the BEATPORT Stage.  Mike Huckaby, Antony Rother and Audion on the MADE IN DETROIT Stage.  The Glitch Mob, Z-Trip and Bassnectar on the RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY Stage.  Las But not least, Carl Cox, Loco Dice VS. Luciano and Derrick May on the VITAMIN WATER Stage. 

The official After party takes place aboard The Princess, which sets sail at 1:30 am, no exceptions, for 2 hours.  The boat cruise will feature AME, Dixon and Henrik Schwartz on the first floor.  Loco Dice VS. Luciano, Desolat VS. Cadenza on the second floor and Carl Craig, Satcey Pullet with a rare DJ Set by “MK” Kinchen & Scotty Deep.  Advanced tickets are available at wantickets.com for $30.  Get them quick, space is limited.
