10am Wednesday Morning: Budapest, Hungary
Today is my last day in Budapest, and tonight I’m hopping on an overnight train to Novi Sad, Serbia which a bunch of rowdy Britts and lots of booze. Tuesday I spent most of the morning queuing (that’s how British people say waiting in a line) to buy my train ticket for tonight. In the afternoon me and the group of Britt’s that I mentioned meeting (in my previous post) walked around Budapest and checked out this huge market. After walking around the market for a while, we stopped for a drink. A pint costs only $2.50 CND!! So after a beer or two, we headed back towards the hostel. On the way we stopped off at a hookah bar and enjoyed some relaxing strawberry flavored hookah while sipping on ice tea and people watching. Again I must reiterate the amount of beautiful women that inhabit Budapest.
After the second pit stop, we looked around for some cheap runners for myself. I am trying to grab some $20 basic yachting-style shoes from H&M or something. I want these so that at Exit festival, I don’t ruin my nice diesel ones that I brought, and so that I’m not forced to wear flip-flops. For those that have never been to a festival, they are a pretty sure way to destroy shoes, dancing around for 12 hours x 4 days, on grass, dirt, and sometimes mud if it rains… Anyways yesterday I wasn’t able to find the shoes I want, so I’m going to go and take a look again today.
Last night me and the Britt’s went to a couple bars around Budapest for some drinks. The night was fairly low-key, which I’m not to disappointed about, as I want to reserve some energy for Exit.
Through a Serbian friend that I made last year, I was able to rent her cousins apartment for Exit Fest with my friend Angela. Right now it’s just me and Ang, but I’m hoping I can find 1-2 more people who want to go in on the apartment with us to lower the cost. I’m a little nervous as to how wild the train ride is going to be tonight, and I don’t imagine I will be getting much sleep, as pretty much everyone on the train is heading to Exit, and therefore everyone is going to be pretty amped and in party mode.. I may have to have catch up on sleep during the day tomorrow once I get to Novi Sad.
Anyways the trip has been amazing so far, and my anticipation for Exit Festival keeps growing. I’m hoping the apartment I’m renting has wi-fi so I can do regular updates including pictures, but we will see how it goes.
